About the Department of Statistics

The Department of Statistics at the University of Kurdistan embarked on its academic journey in October 2007 (Mehr 1386) by admitting its first cohort of undergraduate (B.Sc.) students within the Faculty of Sciences. In a strategic step aimed at completing its higher education cycle, the department launched its Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Mathematical Statistics in October 2012 (Mehr 1391). In 1405 (2026), following final authorization from the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the department admitted its inaugural cohort of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) students in Statistics. This historic milestone not only establishes the Department of Statistics at the University of Kurdistan as one of the primary hubs for training academic faculty and senior researchers in western Iran but also opens new horizons for frontier research and addressing complex national challenges.
