
About the Faculty of Sciences
The Faculty of Sciences, officially established as the first faculty of the University of Kurdistan in 1991, traces its academic origins to 1974 with the admission of students to the Mathematics Education program. As a core and foundational faculty of the university, it plays a pivotal role in the education of specialized human resources and the advancement of scientific knowledge in western Iran, with a focus on both theoretical and experimental sciences. Currently, the faculty offers programs at various academic levels through its constituent departments: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Statistics, and Computer Science. These departments were established sequentially, beginning with Mathematics, followed by Chemistry, Physics, Biological Sciences, Statistics, Earth Sciences, and Computer Science.
