In this scientific study conducted in the Kurdistan Province of Iran, a new genus of intestinal trematode parasite, Parapleurogenoides, is reported for the first time from the marsh frog (Pelophylax bedriagae). This discovery significantly expands our knowledge regarding the biodiversity of amphibian parasites in western Iran. Furthermore, researchers analyzed the phylogenetic relationships of this new genus with other members of the Pleurogenidae family through an investigation of its morphological and molecular characteristics. The species within this genus has been formally introduced as P. kurdistanensis.
