Appointment of Dr. Somayeh Molaei as a Faculty Member of the Department of Chemistry
Dr. Somayeh Molaei is an esteemed faculty member of the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Basic Sciences at the University of Kurdistan. She is a prominent researcher in the field of Inorganic Chemistry, with a specialized focus on nanomaterials, mesoporous materials, and heterogeneous catalysts. She completed all of her academic degrees (B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D.) in Chemistry at the University of Kurdistan. Dr. Molaei’s primary research areas center on the design, synthesis, and characterization of advanced heterogeneous catalysts, functional mesoporous materials, and novel nanostructures.
Dr. Molaei has peer-reviewed over 63 international scientific papers. She also serves on the editorial board of the International Conference on Engineering Sciences and is a member of the review committee for the Materials Engineering Conference. She has been actively involved in specialized scientific conferences, presenting papers at the 22nd Iranian Inorganic Chemistry Conference (University of Kurdistan), co-authoring a presentation at the 27th Iranian Organic Chemistry Conference (Urmia University), and presenting at the International Congress on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (University of Kashan). In terms of scientific lectures, she delivered presentations in 2023 focusing on "Functional Mesoporous Materials as Catalysts" and "Copper-Functionalized Mesoporous Core-Shell Catalysts".
In the domain of graduate student mentorship, Dr. Molaei has collaborated as a thesis advisor for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students alongside Dr. Ghadermazi and Dr. Khoshnavazi. Her other ongoing research initiatives include collaborating on an industrial project with the National Gas Company in partnership with Dr. Faranak Akhlaghian from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kurdistan.
Alongside her academic and research endeavors, Dr. Molaei is highly engaged in cultural and social services. Her contributions include volunteering as an English language instructor with the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation, tutoring chemistry in English to international students at the University of Kurdistan, serving on the organizing committee of the 22nd Iranian Inorganic Chemistry Conference (September 2023), and collaborating with the university's Vice Presidency for Cultural Affairs on various institutional programs. Overall, Dr. Somayeh Molaei is recognized as a dedicated and active academic figure at the University of Kurdistan, with a cohesive record in teaching, research, peer review, administration, and community engagement.
